Product Rules — SyncaMap Support

Product Rules

When SyncaMap creates a location from an order, it records the exact products on that order. Those raw product titles are often not what you want shown to shoppers — they may be wholesale variants, SEO-heavy titles, or internal SKUs. Product rules map a product to a clean, map-friendly display name and link.

Find them under Sync → Product rules.

Set product rules up before your sync rules. Locations save their resolved display products at the moment they're synced (see Sync Rules). Having product rules in place first means every auto-synced location is created showing the right thing. If you add rules later, use Re-resolve all to refresh existing locations.

What product rules do

Product rules are shop-wide — they describe a product itself, not a specific location or sync rule. Each rule maps one or more source products to one or more display targets. A target has a display name and an optional link, and can point at another product in your store.

You build rules by searching your Shopify product catalog — so you can set them up before any location exists. SyncaMap looks up each product by its ID, handle, or SKU when matching against incoming orders.

Whenever you change a product rule, SyncaMap re-resolves the display products for every affected location, so your storefront always shows the mapped result.

Rule types

The shape of a rule depends on how many sources and targets you give it:

  • Rename — one source, one target with a new display name. Show "Cold Brew Concentrate" instead of "CB-CONC-12PK-WHLSL".
  • Remap — point a product at a different product, linking to its retail page (and optionally renaming it too).
  • Split (one → many) — one source, multiple targets. Expand a variety pack into its component products.
  • Many → one — group multiple source products onto a single display target.
  • Variant split — map individual variants of a product to different targets, each with its own hide toggle.
  • Hide — a source with no visible targets is dropped from the map entirely. Use it for fees, gift cards, or samples.

Setting up a rule

  1. Go to Sync → Product rules and click Add product rule.
  2. Pick a source product by searching your Shopify catalog. You can add more than one source to group them into a single rule.
  3. Add one or more targets. Each target needs a display name (max 80 characters) and an optional link. You can search your catalog to link a target to a specific product, type a custom name, or leave a target off to hide the source. Links must be a relative /products/... path or a full http(s):// URL — if you leave the link blank, the storefront falls back to the source product's own link.
  4. Save. The change applies to every location carrying that product.

In the rules list, each rule shows a badge for its type and a short summary (for example, Renamed to "…", Linked to "…", Split into N display products, or Hidden from storefront).

Re-resolve all

If you ever need to force a full refresh — for example after editing several rules, or after setting up rules for locations that already synced — use the Re-resolve all action to re-apply every rule across all locations.
